From UKA Young Athletes League website www.natyal.co.uk/"ALL CLUBS are urged to read the proposals for change by UKA, they WILL effect you....." One aspect of the proposals which appears imminent is changing of age groups to u14, u16, u18 & u20. The suggestion on Young Athletes website is that these age groups may be introduced as early as next year. Young athletes league website refers you to the press release from UKA (link below) www.ukathletics.net/press-centre/news-archive/september-2007/article-29/"The target for a proposed implementation model to be published is December 2007, with piloting of new competition in summer 2008, and full implementation in 2009."

No Sorry for young athletes it would probably be u14/16/18. Hopefully they will give it some further thought before implementing it though. Especially if we are going to be in the position of having different competitions with different age groups (County / County Schools / NoEAA / England Athletics / Young Athletes League / Mid Lancs / Opens etc.). It is already confusing enough for new athletes (both for kids & their parents) because the age groups for T&F change in April - part way through a school year. It would be a recipe for chaos.
