In an attempt to get people to start using the message board, I thought I would ask a question which I know is going to leave me open to potentially unpleasant replies, but here goes.
In the latest edition of The Harrier which is excellent, there are a number of references to myself - this isnt problem as you all know, I love the limelight! My problem is why am I not afforded a chrsitian name like everyone else?
There is Helen, Sarah, Philippa, Gordon, Sunil, Pete, Mick etc, with the only exception of me who is refered to as Sweeney. I may be idiocyncratic, but I'm not exceptional so why am I not called Anne?

My harrier hasn't arrived yet but I think it's part Dave Simson and part John Thaw. I can remember dave referring to you as "The" Sweeney.
BTW. If you picked up any Fantasy Footy tips you might like to share, let me know. The Oregon Reds are faring worse than the the real Reds.

Note to Bob "The Editor" Shepherd. You have one last chance to put right this slur on Anne's good name in your final issue. More Sweeney "Who ate all the pies" Todd trivia from Wikipedia: The phrase "Sweeney Todd" is also Cockney rhyming slang for the Flying Squad, giving rise to the shortened form "The Sweeney" (the British 1970's Thames Television TV police show The Sweeney took the name from this form).
In the British Army during World War II, soldiers named Sweeney were routinely nicknamed "Todd," and Todds known as "Sweeney", after the well-known story.[citation needed]
In his 1993 book Sweeney Todd: The Real Story of the Demon Barber of Fleet, the horror and crime story writer Peter Haining argues that Sweeney Todd was a historical figure who committed his crimes around 1800. However, other researchers who have researched his citations find nothing in these sources to back up what Haining claims they said.
Canadian band Fist has a song entitled "Fleet Street," about Sweeney Todd, featuring Sherlock Holmes and Watson.

Sweeney there is a well know quote which states " there is one thing worse than being talked about that is not being talked about at all" you are the subject of much conversation from people, message boards and gossips I know. You are like pop royality one name describes and everyone knows who you are like Bono, Sting, Madonna.
PS No one I know calls Phipippa Walsh Philippa everyone calls her Pippa.

Thank you Rick - yet more trivia to add to my already 'full of trivia brain' after Saturday's epic mini-bus journey. I should be grateful that I'm at least named and I dont like Anne anyway!
Yes - I did pick up a few tips from the leading 3 in the league - they were getting quite animated as the results came through - the only thing that was consistent was the lack of consistency of footballers if you can understand that & that Henri was bought by everyone!
Yes, I like the implication of being a 'Madonna' though we have little in common, least of which our age - she's much older! She's gobbi, self obsessed, eccentric and always likes to be the centre of attention - not like me at all!
