Hi, my name is Priscilla (oatie) on the forum! I joined P.H about 8 or 9 weeks ago and have been looking through the website and the forum and hopefully without stepping on toes, wondered about a couple of things. Would folk be interested in using this website forum for discussions about things like: running technique, injuries and niggles, latest gizzmo's etc? I suppose a bit like the runners world forums - or similar sites? I know there are issues potentially about litigation re: giving out advice, but the forum moderators could stipulate that any discussion is purely the responsibility of the person who writes the comments (If this is not already done, I think it is ) I think it would be great to develop the online community to encourage and motivate runners and cross polinate our experience across the groups etc? Maybe we could push the use of the site at our running nights? Hope I have not spoken out of turn I am willing to help out with this! What do you all think?

Thanks for your major contribution sweeney toad , just the sort of facetious reply to a genuine enquiry that puts genuine people off, crawl back under the stone, a heavy one.

Pete, The reply to which you refer to has been deleted and the poster has been blocked. Please let me know if we ahve any more problems.
Oatie: Your idea is a good one. The more people who use this forum the better.
If you have a disclaimer you think would be useful, either post it here or PM me and I'll incorporate it in the site.
Thanks Rick

Thanks Rick we don't need the Krankies on here. Good idea Priscilla there are several Professional Medics in the club ( more importantly some alternative types). Best wishes Pete Benson

I wonder if the administrators of this message board would consider to *only allow* registered users to post messages?
This would prevent any low-life individuals (who, quite frankly, do not even have the balls to put their own name to a message) causing unnecessary upset and distress to other registered users!
End of rant!
BTW Priscilla, I think your ideas of getting more use out of this forum is an excellent idea!

Hi Anne It wasn't you it was someone using the name Sweeney toad which was probably to imply it was from you, hence my reply to crawl back under a stone. Every one knows it was not you. There was also a message on from the Mormons or some other cult who wanted to tell us how sinful we all are but Christians (like me) know that God is a loving, forgiving God. End of Religion and rubbish on the board. Best wishes Pete Benson By the way the expression Sweeney is the affectionate way you are held within Athletics

I did not see the message but from people's comments it is perhaps as well! I work within the internet field and am used to people trying to abuse websites! I expect they will grow up one day? I will speak to my colleagues and see if we have a templated disclaimer, also I think Steve's idea re: blocking none registered users from posting is an excellent idea, as people have to own what they post if they are registered. Rick: What is the best way to take forward any ideas people might have for developing our online community? Priscilla

Here are the rules fron the link page on the Harrioers' main website.
Message Board Rules
1. All content is the sole responsibility of the person from which the content originated. This means that you are solely responsible for any content or data you submit to the message board 2. You are prohibited from posting, transmitting or storing any unlawful, threatening, obscene, libelous, or otherwise offensive material. 3. You are prohibited to access, modify and/or delete any data of other users without their permission. 4. Preston Harriers are not responsible for any content that appears on linked sites.
Most things are covered above but 3 might need to be reworded.
The development of the board depends on people taking more interest. I can't gauge how much use the board gets. Not many people post but a lot might drop by and read the latest "news".
