I was doing a bit of maintenance on the board last weekend and inadvertently deleted a thread about night running. The thread appeared as an "announcement" and appeared in more than one thread and I was trying to tidy things up a bit. If I remember correctly, the original poster asked if off-road running at night was popular and why. Bob replied saying "yes" and (to paraphrase) "because fellrunners are insane." Most Karrimor competitors will experience night running at least once if they compete often enough so it's not a bad idea to be well prepared. Over here in Oregon the big ultra race every ultra runner spires to is the Western States 100 Distance: 100 miles Climb: 18,000' Descent: 22,000' Start: 6,250' Squaw Valley Finish: 1,280', Auburn High: 8,720', Emigrant Gap Low: 581' No Hands Bridge www.ws100.com/The aim is to beat 24 hours and receive the coveted silver buckle. This obviously involves a bit of night running and so entrants usually incorporate this into their preparation.
