Hi,
Sometimes when I am out running on Tuesday evenings I see a group of runners coming from the sports arena or down the canal towpath. I'm guessing that this is a Preston Harriers group.
I would be interesting to know more about the various training sessions and group runs available with a view to joining the club and joining in some training in order to improve my running.
A bit about me and what I am looking for:
Although I've always done some running for basic fitness, I am quite a late starter (I am nearly 39) in terms of taking part in actual races and trying to improve a bit more.
I have started doing triathlons this season and am a member of Tri Preston. I am interested in improving my 5k and 10k times as part of triathlons but also taking part in some stand alone 5k and 10k races (which I would be happy/keen to do under the Preston Harriers name if I joined and of course if you wanted me to!).
I've done five 10k races in the last year with my best time being just under 44 minutes in January this year in the Chernobyl 10k. I had improved my times every time until a very hilly race in Huddersfield in February!! My only recent measured 5k was as part of a triathlon and so off the back of swimming and cycling and was just under 21 minutes. I did once do 18.50something but that was quite a few years ago now.
I'm quite pleased with my early progress and results and am probably the fittest that I have ever been. However I am looking to improve further and would be interested in learning more about the best way to go about it from more experienced runners.
thanks
Hughie
