Unfortunately this has nothing to do with running. I received an email just after 4:00 pm this afternoon from my friend Peter. He normally joins the walking group from the Goose Hollow pub on Wednesday night and then joins the runners in the bar, or on the deck in summer, afterwards. His excuse for missing last night was that he'd gone down to the yacht club to paint his boat and had been invited to sail with a friend of his. The evening was perfect. At the end of the email he invited me out on his boat this evening. Accepting the invitation mean't that I had to cancel my run in Forest Park. The weather wasn't quite as good as last night but htere was a bit of wind and we cruised up and down the Columbia River watching a sail boat race. We never did figure out where the finish was. We were sailing quite close to Portland International airport, as can be seen in the photo. The Interstate 5 bridge. Oregon is to the left, Washington State to the right. The race in full swing. Running with the wind, spinnackers up.
