This has become our usual Sunday run recently, an out-and-back course, marked every quarter mile by blue diamonds and mile markers.
The trail starts here in Washington Park:
Running with me today are margie and Lori, Mike and Ed. All of us are preparing for the Ranier to Pacific Relay,
on 23rd July, 2 days after I fly back from England.
Mike Ed and myself compete for the same team in the 195 mile Hood to Coast Relay in August.
We reach the highest point on the run, Pittock Mansion just before MP 4.0. (Click on the link and enjoy the slide-show).
Margie wanted to increase the mileage from 10 to 11 so which made for an extra half mile of descent, a very popular move with yours truly.
Here's the turnaround point; the Stone House.
The fisrt part of the reurn trip starts with a 670ft climb back to Pittock.
There are two shorter climbs on the undualting trail before we return to the start.
As we return to Washingston Park we pass a viewpoint.
Looking to the north we can see the Columbia River
and to the south, Council Crest to the left of the photo.
End of the run. The rest of the group head off to Starbucks. I head home. It's 9:00 AM and on a Sunday and a little early for a post-race beer.
