Just a small suggestion - maybe school holidays should be taken into consideration when choosing dates for team events I hope we have a brilliant turn out on Sunday - but I think we are going to have a rather depleated side this time - I am sure we are not the only team who will suffer this problem. Good luck one and all and come on everyone - as Rob is so fond of saying "Your Team Needs You" ;D

Jane, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the turnout this weekend. Some events will always clash with some holidays and every team will probably be affected however I anticipate a very large, strong Preston Harriers team challenging for the title.
If anybody wishes to compete but does not have transport please could they contact me so arrangements can be made.
Come on Preston !

Congratulations to all the Preston Harriers who today were crowned SPORTSHALL CHAMPIONS 2008-9.
I am very proud of the fantastic team effort displayed. I believe that 4 Lancashire records went - u11 girls chest throw; u 11 boys chest throw; u11 girls triple jump; & u 13 boys shot.
Amy Lupton was the u 15 girls athlete of the match. Ella Roberts won the u13 girls aom award despite having her chosen events changed by the team management.
Preston Harriers u13 girls won their age category as did the under 15 girls.
Many thanks again to all those who helped out on the day. Jane Edmondson for her assistance in organising the u 11 teams. Colin Edmondson, Damien Johnson, Kris Williams & Linda Evans for their track duties. Hannah Lupton, Alix Morley, Andy Goodier, & Andy Parker for their field duties. Not forgetting Coach Heidi whose warm up had the opposition staggered at the size of the Harriers squad.
As we don't have a club house everybody who competed will be allowed to take the trophy home for a week. Those athletes who competed in all three fixtures will receive the campaign medal at a date/venue to be arranged.
Well done to all, you have made Preston proud.
Please can anybody with photographs who would like to see them on the website/Evening Post/Harrier Magazine please send them on to me.

An absolutely splendid performance! I was gutted I couldn't be there. But the girls kept me informed regarding progress & I couldn't have been much more nervous waiting for the final result at 5pm if I had been there. Well done to everyone!! Aidan.

Congratulations to all involved with the Preston Harriers Sportshall squad, deserved winners of this years competition.
You've proved what can be achieved when you all pull together as a club. I was impressed with your turn out yesterday and the time before, which led to a nail biting conclusion to a great series of events.
Although I don't take defeat well, I have to concede on this occasion the strongest overall team won.
So lets look forward to joining forces now next week at Wigan for the Lancashire team and hopfully get some athletes to the National Finals in Birmingham
Once again, well done to all especially Rob Morley, the driving force behind such a great turnout.

Andy, Garry, thanks very much. That was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be and every credit to the BWFAC team for pushing all the way. I fully expect you to come back stronger next year however you can rest assured that Preston Harriers will be stronger and better prepared than this year.
Together I hope we can drive up the standards of competition whilst keeping the whole event fun and exciting for everyone.
Winning is important however what is more important to me is watching the youngsters grow in confidence whilst enjoying their sport. Anyone who witnessed the sportshall event this weekend will have seen around 200 young athletes with smiles on their faces. (As well as a little war paint and chalk dust !)
Looking forward to next weekend I hope that the fierce rivalry will turn into a strong comradeship and the Lancashire teams are successful in winning through to the national finals.

Congratulations to Jacob Weir, Sam Miller & Josh Ingham who were part of the Lancashire u15 team who secured victory in the regional sportshall comp. Their reward is a trip to the national finals in Birmingham on March 22nd.
Preston Athletes made up over 50% of the Lancashire teams and came home with medals galore. The whole team put up a marvelous effort with many individual and relay victories.
The u13 boys and girls were were narrowly beaten into second place as were the u15 girls.
As usual full results will be posted when available.
Well done all once again you have made Preston Proud.

Well done, lets not get carried away though. Lets hope that the track season results can reflect those achieved indoors i.e.sportshall, I believe there will be much tougher opposition to contend with, than that, on view in sportshall? ??. vicky

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks everyone for your kind words of support and for the coaches of the opposition to also congratulate is just what sportshall is all about ;D - even though there is competition, anything as good as this to get youths active should be encouraged. I find it hurtful and a little bit of a put down though when people probably with the best intentions in the world congratulate and then say that the track meets will have stronger competition than whats been on offer so don't get carried away - Why not it's been a few years since the trophy got into Harriers Hands - Lets celebrate Fair enough at track there is usually a lot more people to compete but I think you will find that its the same ones as you have already met in sportshall, well thats certainly the experience I had last year on track and in this winters sportshall. If half the athletes turned up at track meetings that were in the sportshall then the competition would be fantastic. I went to a track meeting last year and only 3 turned up for a certain age groups - that's not unusual I know, but you can hardly class that as competition. Just be happy for the athletes who competed and contributed in any or all of the 3 fixtures - the kids enjoyed themselves, the parents also seemed to enjoy themselves - isn't that what this is all about. ;D ;D ;D After all of the hard work, please don't be-little the achievement, IT'S GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
