One of our young middle distance runners may be interested in running some fell races during the summer. Please could someone give me some idea as to when the season is.
Many Thanks

Hi Peter, Our season has already started & you can read a bit about the first race in our championship by clicking on www.prestonharriers.com/Stanbury Splash was last Sunday. Some Juniors were there. Matt Nash won the U14 & Chris Nash won the U12. In the senior race I came 188th and won a malt loaf. The best people to see about furthering the fell careers of your middle distance runners are Mick McLoughlin, Alan Appleby, Steve Jackson or any of the Nash family. You can always get Mick on his mobile 07977 439 060.

Steve Jackson wants me to add this for him:- Steve Jackson cannot get on the board at present but advises that all the Junior Championship races are listed on fell blog, and are on the Clubs fixtures list on the main site and on the Fell Running Association (FRA) website (www.fellrunner.org.uk) There are 6 such races in the Championship with maximum distances and feet of ascent for the age groups.
There are other fell races, many locally and information about these, & where they are held is contained in the FRA handbook for 2007. Also contains all the race distances. Joining the FRA costs only £8.00 for juniors... families are £18 and you also get three magnificent & packed magazines, with junior pages, each year. The Junior Championship races are great fun, very friendly and runners are totally supportive of each other and many friendships with runners from other clubs have been developed - just ask Andrew Harrison, Nichola Jackson, or Chris & Matt Nash.
Steve will seek you out and pass on some more information. There are also some races in S. Cumbria and Yorkshire organised by Helm Hill Runners, which the Nash family are very keen on (Steve J, Nichola, Andrew and odd other Harriers do the odd one, too) and it is the Kendal Winter League - Sundays from 7th Jan to 25th March - some of the venues are not easy to find, some knowledge is needed for some as map refs are given with a location venue. But, the races are friendly and held in good spirit. We`ll get some details to you, Pete!

Cheers Bob,
Steve has passed me on the relevant info, which I have in turn passed on to the young man in question.
