The race is on live. All I can get on cable TV here in Portland is golf, beach volleyball, and white boarding. Bear in mine Nike World headquarters is 1 mile down the road. I'm listening to Tim Hutchins' commentary via www.eurosport.com. I also have text commentary. 13 mins: The four Ethiopians are in this group, running as a team and blocking Paula off every time she tries to move back in 7th... The Chinese are looking quietly confident in there too. 3k to go. Radcliffe in front.

Paula Radcliffe has somehow taken the leak with 2000m to go, as the pace quickens. Still, she'll need to pull away from them to ensure a medal...
4 to go: paula leads, head bobbing, Ethiopians, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.
Radcliffe still leads, the Ethiopians in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, as radcliffe drops back and China's Yingjie hits the front.

Ethiopians gather for the kill. The pace has dropped.
About 600m to go now, the group are pulling away from radcliffe, Masai leads, but the Ethiopians are lining up as we come towards the bell...
The bell: The three Ethiopians go off at 400m pace pulling away at unbelievable pace!
Dibaba has 7 metres on the rest as she comes into the home straight in an Ethiopian 1-2-3.
So Tirunesh Dibaba wins that in 30:24.03, Ejegayehu Dibaba in second and Werknesh Kidane in third.
No suprises there then.

Paula has done what Paula does well, she alone knows what her body is telling her, she is the greatest female long distance athlete in our history, get behiind her in the marathon, any price higher than evens is a pinch. I like a bet, there is nothing I would rather have a bet on than Paula you are absolutely certain she will give 100% no one or nothing can do more than that. Come on Paula you little beauty!!! Come on Helen you little beauty!! Come on PNE you little beauties!!! Come on England smash those Arrogant Aussie baskets!!! Flintoff and Pieterson rule.
Best wishes
Pete (on a high and on a holiday Benson)
