Helen has arrived in Oz! She feels "spaced out" due to the long journey, but will soon settle. Presently she is in holding camp, prior to the next stage. I think she will soon be able to contact us herself on the message board, but I know I am not alone in greeting her this way, and passing on to her the very best wishes from this snow bound Preston! Got your suntan cream Helen? I'm sure she will appreciate any messages of good luck that any of us might send her.

Good News that Helen is settling down. Let's hope her training goes well. She is doing Preston Proud, especially in the 125th Year of the Harriers & incidently Preston North End. What an added bonus it will be for us if Helen returns with a medal. We all know she will be trying her best. Good luck Helen.

Thanks Helen for taking time out to post us all. Re Rick's question, I know that Helen is just hoping for those Heat times (evening or morning), possibly due to the high temperatures out there. However she won't be able to tell us just when the Heats are until 48 hours before the event................. I'm sure she'll let us know when to watch our tellies! As for USA viewers (Rick) yole just have to work it our yourself. GMT minus 8 hrs! Helen has enough on her plate without having to work out time zones for ex pat marathon runners!

As an experienced time traveller I have no problem working out time zones. ;D I was looking for somewhere to start. (I can't remember where I left the Tardis). The funny thing is: whenever I phone someone in England we will talk for a couple of minutes and then the voice on the other end always asks "What time is it where you are then?"

An interesting fact about Melbourne. It has the 3rd largest Greek population behind Athens and Thessalonika.

Commonwealth Games trivia 1954 Vancouver B.C., CanadaThe ‘Miracle Mile’, as it became dubbed, saw both the gold medallist, Roger Bannister of England, and silver medallist, John Landy of Australia, run sub-four minute races in an event that was televised live across the globe for the first time. Spectators also witnessed the Jim Peters' marathon a few minutes later. From The East Africanwww.nationaudio.com/News/EastAfrican/15052000/Sports/Sports6.html
