When Judy and I were over in Preston last summer we paid a visit to the track one Tuesday night. The first person I recognized was Joe Howard, leafleting the the parked cars. I think it was the Preston 10 but it might have been notification of the AGM.
Steve Smith then appeared, (I think he was waiting for permission to train on the track). His second sentence, after the formal greeting, was "When we going for a beer then?" or words to that effect.
And it came to pass that a few of us met a couple of nights later in the Old Blue Bell and Judy and I had a great night with a lot of friends.
Steve. Thanks for getting the ball rolling on that night out and congratulations on you World Championship victory. For me, you epitomise what the Harriers are all about.
Cheers. Rick

Steve, you will be bored out of your Southern mind by me again saying well done! I've said it in the Helen in Melbourne posting, again in The Harrier Posting, again in The Harrier Magazine, www.prestonharriers.com/harrier_magazine.htm where your article can be read on page 18, & now here in this newly set up item. So ear muffs on Steve, WELL DONE!But rick, your last two posts have been about beer! & you ended on "For me, you epitomise what the Harriers are all about." In the other you talked about real ale & fell runners, Rick this is old news I'm afraid. & I think that Steve sups lager! I know that his official photographer does, is it because she works at Thwaites? Steve are you ever going to come back on the fells?

steveRick, nice to hear from you. Thanks for your comments. I really did enjoy a great night out with everybody that night. We should do it again next time you're over, just give us a bit of notice when you're visiting.
Bob, again, thanks for your comments too and don't worry I'll never tyre of your praise. However.........., I may have the misfortune of being a southerner but I would NEVER sup Lager. No, you Northern lads have shown me the error of my ways and now all I ever sup is good old real ale (Timmy Taylors when I can get it). Keep up the good work.
