This has been the most posted & read topic on the board. Typical of me, I saw it for the first time this morning! I don't have much to offer to the debate, except that I am posting this in my name. Anonymous posts are confusing. Not from Riley Green & Guest x 2, I suspect are the same person. I am hurt that Not from Riley Green thinkz that I can't spell.

Bob Shepherd
I can assure you that guest x 2 which is Pete Benson and not from Riley green are not the same people so will the real not from riley green stand up. I think annonymity/silly names on fairly flippant issues is ok but on the more serious issues you should use your correct name, otherwise how would the club know whether it is people within the club who have issues or whether the issues are drummed up by some one from another club or just a stirrer. Whilst I am clarifying that, Bob Shepherd has asked me to clarify an earlier post regarding how the club should have tried to stop me leaving. Bob asks me to confirm that individuals within the club did try to persuade me to stay I do confirm that this happened particularly by Bob himself, Joe Howard, (Committee) Alan Appleby (Committee) and some others not involved with the Committee. I had made my mind up that whilst the Hancocks and Welfares were involved in the running of the club that the club was going backwards. Sadly the club is a club with no heart at the helm just a bunch of hobbyists ( Joe Howard and Alan Appleby excepted.
This is not intended to stimulate debate on the board I am clarifying what I have been asked to clarify.

Message shout out to 'my egos to big' - when you train with people like Seany Vernon, Carl Dickinson, Tom Batty (i could go on!) ,and you see how hard they put in to it, and get a buzz out of being able to be the best at what they do. And for somebody like yourself who prob knows nothing of what we do..man..shame on you brother! We do have 'our fun' in training, but we put so much into every night at the track. And you wanna call people like Carl and his ego!!..man I have trained with him on countless nights and let me tell you..He is the genuine article! His performances are so far above what anyone else has been able to achieve at Preston Harriers in the 100m and 200m. and thats one person at the club who i've spoke of! Its also good to see bob 'the man' shepard on here saying his bit. We need more peeps on here to make a good strong points that will be valid! Rock On!

Well, I’ve just read through the whole of this and I have to say I am dismayed
If I may…………..
From the point of view of the athletes (those who have contributed I except): what sort of a club is this were the people – past and present – who run the club cannot support the club in whatever direction it takes.
From the point of view of the committee and other supporters: why do I bother, I can’t do right for doing wrong.
From the point of view of the coaches: what is going on? All we want to do is produce athletes that can perform to the best of their abilities.
From a message board point of view: this is not the right forum to change things; do it from within. Not on a message board for gods sake.
From a personal point of view……everyone involved is trying to do a good job and should not be criticised. I don’t go down to the track on Tuesdays, look round and say to myself: “oh look there are a group of people not trying their best” I see people working hard to achieve what they want, and we should support them without question. And I don’t mind who is involved as long as we are moving forward.
From an organisation point of view: It might not be what everyone wants or agrees to but it is not an effort to take the club backwards, it is a democracy; if you have something better to offer don’t debate it – do it. We will only get somewhere if we pull together...
Come on folks….we can do better than this.

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.
Lets keep tryin my friends.. make that difference.

Hello Ishy, & sadly goodbye. I hear that you are going to guard the scotch. Good lad, save some for me.....
Re this entire overdrawn, overstated & over now (I hope) article, Pete you are absolutely right to say that this is not the place for such discussion. You are right to say that everybody goes to the track & puts lots of effort in. They would be foolish & waste so much time if they didn't. You are right, I'm sure, to say that the committee do their best, and we should remember that everybody involved is a volunteer. Those who are not happy with the situation should either join in with the coaches & or committee & attempt to get things to a satisfying state,(from the inside as you say). Or they should leave in a dignified manner, having made their point maybe to a coach or a committee member. This open forum should not be for open disputes. Disputes that any tom, dick, or harry can log into. On the lighter side, if Clayton for instance knew that Bob Shepherd was unhappy at the Harriers (from reading his writings, then they might poach me eh? For Poach read Poach not coach. However Pete there is one thing I see that is wrong. It's for God's sake, & not how you wrote it! Maybe we should ask Rick to advise on how we can prevent this happening again. Finally this is the second time only that I've contributed to this item. I'm still a little miffed that the contributor called "not from riley green" hasn't come back. I'm also slightly miffed that "not from salford" hasn't come back to clear up that it's not me. I am finally a little less miffed that there are so many people adopting pseudonyms. I know Pete Benson approves under certain circumstances, but I don't see the point. So there! All those less than twenty know that Ishy is Leame Isherwood. But we all know him as Ishy! Ishy is a phenomenom, not a pseudonym. For those who don't know Ishy, you are missing a treat & a great lad!
