Colleagues -
It is with some interest that I have noticed that the interclub races have just become very very competitive (well at the front end anyway !!!)
I can't help but noticing the various messages posted on here by the great and the good of the club (well the fast one's !)
At first I thought to myself we are loosing sight of the reason for the races. Yes it is good to win, but surely it is the taking part that is important. I thought to myself that the good people over at Wesham RR would never take it this seriously. So imagine my surprise when I found the below posted Wesham's website under the "Captain's Corner" section.

Strengths and weakness
We did our best to go into an unassailable lead in the Interclub Series; however Preston rallied their big guns and turned out in force. They were lead by their No 1. Runner, Adam Sutton. We all know Preston have more faster runners than we do, which is their greatest strength, and it showed on Monday at the Interclub, but we also know their biggest weakest as well. Will they all turnout again in force. Who knows?
As a team, which we are, we play to our strengths which, in our case, are that we all turn out in numbers and race week in week out. This, of course, is unless you are trying to win the most Competitive Miles competition and then you race every other night. That's why I still believe we will win the Interclub Series, by going to the next meeting at Chorley on 16th August in great numbers and packing in like we did at both Preston and Blackpool and coming out on top once again. With the support of all our runners, from the first to the last, we need to push Preston's 8th, 9th and 10th counters further back down the field so we can win.
Thanks to everyone who turned up on Monday for what was a great night, even though the result did not go our way. The battle was lost on Monday but the war was not.
It’s only 2-2 with still two to play for, so let’s play to our greatest strengths and, once again, all turn out for the next Interclub. Pencil it in your diaries now – Chorley, 16th August starting at 7.30pm.

As a lifelong Burnley Fan who is never going to win any races I would like (for once) to be associated with a winning team. So please if you are very fast (or if like me you are not) and you are a member of the club please can you turn out for the last two races
16 August 06 Wednesday Chorley (7.30pm)
5 September 06 Tuesday Red Rose (7:00pm)
Although I will be in Bermuda when the last race takes place so can't attend myself (do as I say and not as I do) I would very much like to be able to raise a glass to myself and the rest of the club as the Interclub champions 2006.
