Some things in life you come to depend on the fact that you will never be able to beat the system, the fact we all have to pay taxes and the fact that each August I will write about the Interclubs !
Yes that is right you can set your watch by it. It is August, we have two interclub races left, we need to win them both to win the series and I am on here to try and convince all Preston Harriers to turn out to the last two races.
That is right, I am here again cap in hand to ask all Harriers (regardless of category or ability as long as you are over 15) to turn out for the last two races. The details of which being: -
Wednesday 8th August 2007 Chorley AC
Tuesday 5th September 2007 Red Rose RR
This time last year we were in the same position and people supported the club (in big numbers) and we did it. So please can all Harriers make an extra special effort to turn out of these two races and support the club.
I am happy to arrange transport for any Harrier who needs a lift (offer limited in UK based Harriers only !)
I have posted this on each of our boards to ensure it is seen by all !!!!

I have placed the dates of the last 2 Inter Clubs on the News Fader on the main page.
I am going to "sticky" then lock all the other Inter Club threads apart from this one. That way we can keep the messages concentrated in one thread.

Can I echo Steve's plea to all the ladies in the club? There were 12 of us at last week's long 10k so there should be at least this number at Chorley on Wednesday. I know that Sarah has selfishly gone on holiday without consulting her diary - imagine arranging to go away when there is an interclub race on! I believe there may be 1/2 injuries so we need as many uninjured, unholiday ladies out as we can. As most of you know, I'm not competitive - it is all about taking part so if we can just get enough out we can still win! Please come - it's a lovely easy course and you will be well rewarded by a great feeling of satisfaction when we win.

;D Just thought I would say well done to all that turned out for the inter club! It was great to see a spirited effort from the Fell contingency, the ladies from the Wednesday group and the young man who put in a stirling effort. I was also encouraged by the return of Gary Wilson whom I wish a speedy return of form. I enjoyed the team spirit on the night and appreciated the words of wisdom & comfort from all who where concerned regards my temporary loss of any kind of form. The 3rd open place on the night does not reflect the improvements that have been attained by those who normally do not feature in the first 10 counters (men) However you should take pride in the fact that your efforts did count and that the hard track sessions are paying off. We can now muster a last blast for the Red Rose Inter-club and give our competition something to think about for next year!!
Run with a smile!

Well said Neil it was a great turn out and pleasing to see people doing so well. I would also like to echo his point about turning out on mass for the last one. (Eddy that includes you !)

Final results from Wednesday evening sent to John Schofield Friday lunchtime, so watch out on www.ukresuts.net. Stephen - looking at the results it looks like Eddy Little sent David Large to do his dirty work for him!

Tony - if Eddy Little is allowed to pick David Large to run on his behalf I would like to nominate Adam Sutton to run on mine !

I`d like to echo what Neil has said... doubtless a number of runners were on holiday but the turn out was good. Thank you to all who ran. There was once again a large number from the Wed group, both ladies & men - Alan and I were very proud of you all. One would hope of an even bigger turn out for the last one on the 5th September (Worden Park, Leyland 7PM.) from all at Preston H. It`s a team event, everyone is part of The Team so let`s have a real push to get as many out as we can for the last one.

;D Just to start with I thought that Red Rose did a cracking job on the night. No fuss, no flashing lights in fact no ready steady go at the start!A rolling start a first for me! Really good night thanks to all!! Well what a night some great results for our new members and we won the overall prize! Something to think about for next year. OK we finished 2nd overall but it could have been worse if we had been behind Wesham. Only joking lads/lasses! Congratulations must of course go to the victors, well done to you all in your first year as a combined team from the Costa dell Blackpool. Again well done Red Rose the chips were great! Next year perhaps we can get a sandwich/pie or fruit sponsor? I have enjoyed the races this year seeing some superb performances from new faces and old, with the usual comradeship amongst/across the teams that is rarely seen outside our sport. Thanks to all the organisers, marshalls and those of you in the background. Train hard & smile even harder! Neil Mc Donald
