Please could anyone point me in the right direction as to where I may obtain a copy of one of the photographs taken at Sports City at the Young Athletes league shown in the last Harrier magazine.

How exciting is track and field athletics at a local level? how interesting is it to the general public? indeed do the general public know how to access local track and field? Do we need to do anything to raise the profile/awareness that such talent exists, in youngsters particularly. Should we try to make the public aware how difficult it is for youngsters to reach international level? does any one care except to moan when we don't achieve mega medal status in the major competitions? Does athletics need to reach into the 21st century? Do the biddies who are opposed to progress have a point? How much do we support the current reformation of Athletics? Does anyone really care?
Best wishes

Track and Field at local level is as exciting as local football leagues on the park. Of no interest unless you know the individuals involved, or have an interest in the outcome. Certainly not for the general public. I have no interest in telling anyone how difficult it is to become the best. It is hard in most areas of life. But athletics needs to make it easier, and there are ways to do so. Unfortunately the changes currently proposed are mostly cosmetic, beurocratic, power seeking or political. They are not justified, costed or funded and the nature of the problems has not been clearly identified, let alone addressed. The only benefit of the new system, if approved, is that it will provide more jobs for ex international athletes. The downside is that the club membership will pay their wages and have less say in how the sport is run than at present. I do care.
